The benefits of drones in agriculture are quite numerous. It is one of the technologies driving precision agriculture. Precision agriculture, by definition, is the science of improving efficiency, productivity, crop yield and profitability through the use of technology. Drones are an amazing tool for farmers to help assess the health of their crops. They can acquire data, through the use of different sensors, which can be turned into maps, which can help identify problem areas. Another emerging use of drones is in spraying chemicals, to help fight disease & pests. Drones can be programmed with flight paths, to only treat the problem areas & leave the healthy parts of the field free from unnecessary chemicals. They can also be more efficient, in some cases, conserving time & labor. Drones are having a positive impact on farming & this trend is likely to continue, as drone technology is utilized more & more.
