Friday Farm Focus-Earth Day

“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” Native American proverb.

This quote is so profound to me because its reality is a driving force in our every day actions. We are responsible for continued preservation & stewardship. Although every day is Earth Day to a farmer, preserving & protecting our natural resources will always remain a priority in food production. The best thing about most farmers is that they are innovators. By adopting methods through trial & error, this helps us to progress to our goals.

Cover crops, grazing techniques, managing timberland, protecting wildlife habitats, supporting pollinators, cultivating soil health, building organic matter, minimizing air & water pollution & reduced tillage are just a few examples of ways that we plan to continue to improve the health of our environment. As consumers, one of the easiest ways to help contribute to our planet’s health, is to do your homework. Vote with your dollar to support those out there, that are doing the work on the daily. No action is too small.

So, how do you plan to celebrate Mother Earth tomorrow? One of our favorite ways is just to be able to enjoy what’s she’s given us, out in nature!
