In honor of International Women’s Day, this past Wednesday, our focus today is on women in farming & how roles have changed.
Worldwide, farming remains mostly a male-dominated industry. And traditionally, women are either born into or marry into the lifestyle & provide “behind the scenes” support. More recently though, many women have started to assert themselves & started to identify their occupation as farmer.
And as more consumers continue to seek a closer connection with locally-raised, quality food sources, the role & talent of women is incredibly key to helping continue feed the world.
I have been blessed to have some pretty amazing female role models, who’ve shared their love of farming & taught me so much. May we continue to honor & recognize women in farming & beyond.
